Work Wear to Beat the Heat

Summers are a mix of overheating outside and freezing under the office air conditioning. And if you’re office doesn’t have AC, I pray for you. But working over the summer doesn’t have to mean sweat stains and being uncomfortable all day long. Today I have a few ideas for updating your spring wardrobe and making it a little more wearable in the heat.

  • Light colors like whites, cream, light greys, and pastels are going to be a lifesaver in the heat. Besides the fact that they won’t attract heat as well (you all remember that science experiment from 3rd grade), they also won’t show any sweat stains.

  • Fabrics are going to make or break your summer wardrobe. Opt for lightweight materials such as linen, cotton, or silk blends.

  • Depending on where you work, what you actually wear can be very limited. If possible, opting for dresses or skirts is going to make you much happier. They’ll be more breathable and much lighter. If you have a suits only policy, definitely opt for lightweight suits with nice blouses underneath so you can take your jacket off if you ever have a chance.

  • Speaking of jackets, layers are going to be your friend this summer. While it’s sweltering outside, the ac in the workplace can leave you freezing. Having a cardigan or jacket at your office that you can take on and off will make dealing with changing temperatures easier.

  • No one, ever, ever, ever, wants to smell/see your disgusting, sweaty feet. Try to avoid sandals or flip flops for the office, and never take your shoes off (hopefully you wouldn’t anyways but you never know).

  • As far as deodorant goes, make sure you’re using an antiperspirant not just a deodorant. This will obviously help you sweat less and be more comfortable when it’s super hot out!

So these are my ideas to help you beat the heat this summer. Share any other ideas you have down below!
