How to Make Makeup Last Longer

The worst feeling in the world is looking in the mirror and realizing your makeup has totally worn off. Ok, not the worst feeling but it’s definitely up there. lol. Especially with the summer/warm weather coming (hopefully), being able to keep your makeup in place is absolutely essential. The good news is, there are a few things you can do to keep this from happening.

  • Blot - If you tend to have oily skin, blot your skin before you start applying your makeup. The oils on your face can make your makeup run much more easily, so try to get as much off as you can before you even start doing your makeup.

  • Prime - Make sure to start off with a clean surface (aka your face).  And then just apply a primer. A good primer will fill in pores and make your makeup go on much smoother and stay on longer.

  • Set - A good setting spray is an essential for making your makeup last longer. I prefer a setting spray, like Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray if you have oily skin or the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray if you have more normal skin. These basically plaster your makeup onto your face and it won’t budge all day.

  • Keep your hands off - Touching your face a lot will transfer all the gunk and oil on your hands onto your face. This will not only take off the makeup just from touching it but the oil on your hands will actually also break down your makeup.

  • Don’t Forget Your Eyes - A big reason why your eyeliner and eyeshadow could be running is if you have oil eyelids. Try using a translucent powder and a non-oily eyeshadow primer, like the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer.

  • Know What To Reapply - For most people, by lunch, their lipstick is nearly nonexistent, their eyeliner has all but disappeared, and they may be a little oily. Make sure to pack a few essentials to touch up on whenever you have a chance. I recommend packing your daily lipstick, eyeliner, and blotting paper to make touch ups quick and easy.

So, these are some of my tips to make your makeup last longer. Let me know if you have any other ideas down below in the comments and I’ll be sure to check them out!
