Christmas Sugar Cookie Recipe

You guys. Today. On. S&G. I. Have. The. Best. Greatest. Most lit. Holiday. Sugar. Cookie Recipe. OFALLTIME. Honestly, amazing. This is my go to cut out sugar cookie recipe. They’re super easy to make, hold their shape extremely well, and are so much fun to decorate. These cookies are the perfect addition to any holiday dessert tray. I swear, you’ll want to make these like, everyday.

  • A pinch less than 3 cups of all purpose flour (Use a little less than 3 because we add in some flour later on.)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) of softened butter
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • In one bowl whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
  • In another bowl with an electric mixer, beat the softened butter and the sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time.
  • Then add in the vanilla extract.
  • Add the flour mixture and beat until you have a smooth dough.
  • Divide the dough in 3 parts and wrap in ceran wrap. I like to flatten the dough a little bit as I do this so it’s easier to work with later on.
  • Refrigerate for about an hour and a half until the dough is very firm.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • On a tray put a layer of flour down. The coat the block of dough with flour (this is where that extra flour will come in).
  • Roll out the dough until it’s about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Use cookie cutters (Or cups in a pinch) to make the cutouts.
  • Bake for about 8-10 minutes. They may puff a little bitbut I swear they go back to normal after like 1 minute.
  • Take them out, then let them cool for 2 minutes and move to a cooling wrap.
  • DECORATE! This is always my favorite part. I love to do royal icing topped with sprinkles and shit.
